WordPress is a well-known platform to everyone. There are almost no developers or IT professionals who are not familiar with the basics of WordPress. If you are reading this text and still don’t know what we are talking about, here are a few lines about the basics.
WordPress today is the most popular CMS that runs over 33.7% of the world’s web sites. WordPress is one of the most flexible open-source solutions that is constantly updated by the WordPress community, and is currently represented with 60.7% of the market share. The WordPress community is always there for you
It’s the WordPress community that is the strongest weapon this platform has. Thousands of people around the world are volunteering to make WordPress a safe and reliable solution. WordPress Niš community exists from June 2016 and since than we organized many meetups and workshops and contributed our share.
The community provides support to all those who are just starting out and do not have much experience using WordPress. Thanks to that, we can always find a solution to the WordPress problem we have, or to get a quick response from members of the community on Slack. In short, someone is always there to support you and help if you have a problem. They all work voluntarily and do not receive any compensation for it.
Everyone can help
Everyone can help and contribute to the strengthening of WordPress and its community. It does not matter whether you are a developer, designer, or if you have zero experience working with WordPress. The Contributor Day is the best way to get started and find out first-hand how you can contribute.
This event gathers those who are already actively working on concrete tasks and strengthening WordPress and they will be the ones who will best tell you how and where to start. At the beginning of this gathering, all participants will be divided into teams where mentors show new members how to make their contribution: write a patch for some bug, translate a plugin, answer forum questions … In addition, there are always experienced developers in such gatherings- bloggers, designers, people from all walks of the WordPress world, so you have a unique opportunity to get to know them and talk to them about everything that interests you.
WCNiš 2019 Contributor Day

Book your ticket for WordCamp Niš, prepare your laptop and circle on May 18th and 19th for socializing, endless discussions about WordPress, as well as serious work on tasks that will improve this great platform.

Contributor day event is located only few hundred meters from the first conference day at College of Applied Technical Sciences in Nis (VTS Nis). We are grateful to VTS for recognizing the importance of such event and helping us organize it.

Why you should join
You will have a unique opportunity to get to know many people who make up the backbone of the WordPress Serbia community. Talking to them, you will have the opportunity to see how they work and talk about important topics for WordPress upgrade. Most important of all: you will get a lot of new acquaintances and connections that will help you build WordPress careers, because the community is there to help you in this sphere.

- WordPress.org profile
- Slack WordPress account
- Bring #WCNiš identification card (the one you will get on the first day of the camp upon registering)
- Good mood
What team should I join?
As it’s already been pointed out, everyone can get involved in the work of the community and make their contribution. The WordPress community has 18 teams while in Niš we’ll have 6. You can choose among the following:
- Help forum users by answering their questions (Support)
- Translate WP plugins, themes, or the core (Polyglots)
- Refill the documentation (Documentation)
- Join the community team (Community)
- Do a video review for WordPress TV (TV)
It’s up to you to decide which team to join. After we gather at this year’s #WCNiš 2019 Contributor Day workshop, we will deploy teams and start socializing and working.
